Lewes Prison: Prisoners smash cells and offices during riot

A National Response Unit (Specialist Prison Riot Pigs) was called in to supress a riot at an east Sussex jail after prisoners “went on the rampage” for six hours. Cells and offices were damaged in the disturbance at Saturday at Lewes prison. There were only four screws on the wing that up rose and all four beat a hasty retreat after threats of violence and left the prisoners to go the on the rampage. Prisoners who rioted have surely been thrown into the ‘segregation unit’, another name for the psychological torture that is isolation cells.
