Reading: ATM raiders smash station ticket office

Land-Rover-three

Slaves to the rat race were unable to use the ticket office at Wokingham station near Reading last Wednesday. Raiders used a land rover to smash through a glass panel and gain entry to the station. They then made off with a cash machine.

This is the second raid at the station in a week. Just seven days ago several ticket machines were broken open and a small amount of money was taken.

Unfortunately drones were able to use the station as normal and catch trains to continue their contribution to the capitalist machine.

Montreal: Yuppie shop raided in ‘anti-gentrification’ expropriation

'Fuck Empire' sprayed & the posters on the shop window

‘Fuck Empire’ sprayed & the posters on the shop window

FOTH: Published to highlight the possibilities of anti-gentrification struggle in prison island, time for praxis!

28th May

Armed with spray cans, the masked raiders attacked Montreal’s bourgeois grocer 3734, setting off smoke bombs and making off with thousands of dollars worth of food. The group fled before police arrived, throwing objects at the store front and at nearby expensive cars.

A trail of posters, hastily slapped on the windows of the small, wood-panelled shop, made it clear this was not a random attack. “With the arrival of the condos in Saint-Henri, a multitude of expensive businesses followed, hipster restaurants and bourgeois grocery stores,” read a poster. “On May 28 we tried to recalibrate things a little bit, to the extent of our means.” The stolen food would be redistributed “joyously” in the neighbourhood, it added.

The crux of their actions was summed up at the end of their three-paragraph explanation, in large, bold lettering: “Long live de-gentrification.” Gentrification has been a heated conflict in Saint-Henri for years. Multiple shops on the same street as 3734 were targeted in a similar fashion a year ago.

London: Ravers throw billiard balls at riot cops during siege

The attacks on ‘illegal raves’ have continued in London yesterday as three feds have been injured in a seven-hour siege after ravers barricaded themselves in a squatted building in Walthamstow, North London. Ravers hurled rocks and even billiard balls at riot cops as they defended themselves inside the empty Hurricane Room snooker club on Hoe Street last night.

Hundreds of ravers partying on the street were dispersed but many barricaded themselves inside the building and continued in defiance with the event. The cops eventually stormed the venue at about 5am, making four arrests.

“I saw the police wearing their anti-riot gear and they were trying to break in to an abandoned building because some people stayed inside and didn’t want to leave. After an hour the police closed the junction completely because the remaining people in the building started throwing stones and billiard balls on police cars from a window on the first floor.”

‘To The Resigned’ – Albert Libertad

From Non Fides

I hate the resigned, like I hate the filthy, like I hate layabouts!
I hate resignation! I hate filthiness, I hate inaction.
I feel for the sick man bent under some malignant fever; I hate the imaginary sick man that a little bit of will would set on his feet.
I feel for the man in chains, surrounded by guardians crushed under the weight of irons on the many.
I hate soldiers who are bent by the weight of braids and three stars; the workers who are bent under the weight of capital.
I love the man who says what he feels wherever he is; I hate the voter seeking the perpetual conquest by the majority.
I love the savant crushed under the weight of scientific research; I hate the individual who bends his body under the weight of an unknown power, of some “X,” of a God,
I hate, I say, all those who, surrendering to others through fear or resignation a part of their power as men, not only keep their heads down, but make me, and those I love, keep our heads down, too through the weight of their frightful collaboration or their idiotic inertia.
I hate them; yes I hate them, because me, I feel it. I don’t bow before the officer’s braid, the mayor’s sash, the gold of the capitalist; morality or religion. For a long time I have known that all of these things are just baubles that we can break like glass…I bend beneath the weight of the resignation of others. O how I hate resignation!

Edinburgh: Wild youth rampage through under-construction station

JS92365434

Wild youth have caused up to £60,000 worth of damage after breaking into an under-construction railway station.

Edinburgh Gateway station suffered “extensive damage” when it was attacked last Saturday evening.

Vehicles, construction machinery and buildings at the station were among the items damaged in the rampage. Graffiti was also daubed all over the site and windows were smashed.

If only more nodes of the transportation network that fuels the ‘rat race’ were attacked like this!

Northampton: Cop attacked with samurai sword

A cop was attacked by a man who was snitched on for ‘vandalism’ in the local area in Northampton. As two cops tried to raid the mans house in the early morning hours with tazers (a supposed ‘non lethal’ weapon that has killed many people since its introduction) he repulsed them by stabbing one of the cops in the leg. Accounts of the attack describe the cop shedding blood like a fountain and letting out a blood curdling scream.

Unfortunately the cop was rushed to hospital & survived!

Bristol, Britain’s Flagship ‘Smart City’

bristol

From Return Fire #3

Via 325

“We’re creating an environment where in a year or two, not five, the whole world will look at Bristol for the future of smart cities.”
– Dimitra Simeonidou, High Performance Networks Lab, Bristol University

The city of Bristol, south west U.K., has begun a multi-million pound experiment to create the ‘smart-city’ of the future, which would cement Bristol as a global leader in the telecommunications world. The wider area of Avon (mainly the ‘post-industrial’ estates of Bristol and Bath) already hosts the largest digital technology sector in the British Isles outside of London, and receives funding from the government as such.

City authorities and allied technological entrepreneurs are working to kit out Bristol with a city-wide ‘digital fabric’ of the very latest in sensor and connectivity technology, to make it the world’s first open ‘programmable city’. A high-speed fibre-optic network (making use of disused cable ducting owned by the council) is being combined with a new ‘city operating system’ that will power an experimental network. In the coming spring of 2016, 1,500 sensor-equipped lampposts are being launched around the city; the vast majority of Bristol will be covered in a Radio Frequency (RF) mesh. This is predicted to revolutionise the way that emergency response, traffic management and other municipal services are handled, and track certain vehicle locations, with eventual alleged trickle-down ‘benefits’ such as informing residents of parking spaces and air pollution (ahem, from those parking spaces) in an increasingly mechanised and technified environment. Erlestoke Prison: Riot sparked by smoking ban

Ford prison riot 2011

Ford prison riot 2011

The screws struggled to control the chaos at Erlestoke Prison in Wiltshire after a rooftop protest. Toilets were ripped out, rooms were smashed and riot cell doors were kicked in. And the prisoners ruled the roost until the early hours of Sunday. Cops were called to take the rebellious prisoners away from the jail later that day.

A pilot ban on smoking came into force on May 23 and prisoners relatives claim the new rule is to blame.

One wife of a prisoner said “It is the smoking ban which is to blame. Some of the prisoners would rather move to a different prison, even if it is a high category jail so they can still smoke. He doesn’t smoke but the ban is driving some of the others crazy.”
